Chapter 27

A good traveler leaves no tracks. A good speaker makes no slips or errors. A good counter needs no aids or machines. A good locksmith uses no bolts or keys, yet no one can open. A good binder uses no ropes or cords, yet no one can loosen. Be always available and don't reject anyone. Everything has meaning. Be ready to use all situations and don't waste anything. This is called "embodying the light". What is a good man but a bad man's teacher? What is a bad man but a good man's job? If you don't understand this, you will get lost, however intelligent you are. It is a great secret. The wise leave the road and find the way; fools cling to the way and lose the road. When society is orderly, a fool alone cannot disturb it; when society is chaotic, a sage alone cannot bring order.
