The soft overcomes the hard. The gentlest thing in the world overcomes the hardest thing in the world. That which has no substance, the insubstantial, the nothing, penetrates where there is no space, no openings. This shows the value of non-action, of inertia. Teaching while saying nothing; action in inaction, inaction in action; selfless service; non-being in action – that is the way of the TAOist.
