Could Rove be ABC's Foley Informant?
No, not personally, but through one of
his rovents. Think about it before you dismiss the
idea
as crazy. It's just twisted enough to appeal to
Rove, especially since no one would ever imagine he was
behind the timing of the Foley scandal (for which the
right wing is already pointing the finger at democrats).
Predictably, the ensuing scandal has all
bit eliminated discourse about the recent
repeal of the constitution, Iraq's continuing
descent into hell, or the revelations in Woodward's new
book. Coverage of the child king's incompetence
and malfeasance has been replaced by sound bytes of Bush's righteous
outrage at Foley.
But would Rove really risk so much
potential collateral damage to Republicans in congress
just to deflect attention from his liege?
Considering the skill with which the Republican machine
has been able to
suppress and alter the vote in recent elections it's
conceivable that Rove simply isn't worried about too
many Democrats winning - he knows the fix is in.
Another plus for Rove is that Foley is
gay, so the Republican base can get itself worked up
into a frothy gay liberal value bashing lather between
now and November 7. Fox and AP have already been
caught
labeling Foley as a democrat. Even if Hastert
succumbs to the scandal, and Boehner fails to recover
from the whiplash of his changing stories, Roy Blunt is
standing in line to service Rove's needs.
And if anyone questions the
statistically impossible results that will soon spew
from electronic voting machines, or wonders about
widespread systematic suppression of primarily
democratic voters, well they had better not appear to be
hostile about it.
Stray Thoughts
from Don Alejandro
who wonders if Hastert ever went out for ice cream with
a congressman...
